Thomas Smyrk, M.D., receives 2021 Harvey Goldman Lifetime Achievement Award from Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society

Thomas Smyrk, M.D. (PATH ’86), Division of Anatomic Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received the 2021 Harvey Goldman Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society.

Dr. Smyrk was recognized for outstanding contributions to academic gastrointestinal pathology, including more than 400 peer-reviewed publications that featured seminal work in Lynch syndrome, esophageal eosinophilia and IgG4-related disease. He is also credited with inspiring and mentoring many successful academic GI pathologists.

Dr. Smyrk is a professor of laboratory medicine and pathology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Pathology.
