Todd Rasmussen, M.D. (MED ’93, S ’96, VASS ’01, VASA ’21), was selected as director of the Gonda Vascular Center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. With the assistance of multidisciplinary clinical teams and administrative partners, Dr. Rasmussen will work closely with various Mayo Clinic leaders to implement the Gonda Vascular Center’s strategic plan. This includes expanding the scope of the center and improving its quality of care, enhancing integration, promoting innovation, driving transformational change, and supporting staff in their care of patients with a range of complex vascular conditions. Dr. Rasmussen is a professor of Surgery and consultant in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and will be transitioning from the role of vice chair of education in the Department of Surgery, a position he has held since 2021.

Dr. Rasmussen succeeded Haraldur Bjarnason, M.D. (R-D ’00), who rotated out of the role after nine years of service. Under Dr. Bjarnason’s leadership, the center developed multidisciplinary specialty clinics to provide seamless, one-stop care to patients with serious and complex vascular diseases. Additionally, Dr. Bjarnason was instrumental in leading efforts to advance the science and improve the treatment of vascular diseases through research.
