Virend Somers, M.D., Ph.D. (HYT ’99), Department of Cardiovascular Diseases at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, was named as the Chest 2017 Distinguished Scientist in Cardiopulmonary Physiology and will deliver the Honor Lecture at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Chest Physicians in October 2017.

Dr. Somers is a professor of medicine.
