Virend Somers, M.D., Ph.D., receives 2021 University of Iowa Cardiovascular Medicine Distinguished Alumnus Award

Virend Somers, M.D., Ph.D. (HYT ’99), Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received the 2021 University of Iowa Cardiovascular Medicine Distinguished Alumnus Award. He was recognized for original contributions to advancing the understanding of cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Somers is a professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
