Walter Franz III, M.D., received inaugural Glenda Potter Award from Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association

Walter Franz III, M.D. (FM ’82), Department of Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received the inaugural Glenda Potter Award from the Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association. The association, which serves refugees and immigrants, honored Dr. Franz for his work with immigrants.

Dr. Franz became involved with the association when it was founded in 1964, serving on the advisory board of directors and providing advice to the fledgling organization. He treated many new refugee arrivals to the area who often had conditions complicated by trauma.

Dr. Franz is an associate professor of family medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
