Former President Jimmy Carter has battled cancer with immunotherapy. Foundational discoveries of immunotherapy were made almost two decades ago in experiments performed by Mayo Clinic researchers including Haidong Dong, M.D., Ph.D. (IMM ’01), Department of Urology, under the direction of Lieping Chen, M.D., Ph.D. (IMM ’97) (now co-director, Cancer Immunology Program at Yale Cancer Center).
