Albert Tin Hong Chan, M.D. (GI ’85)

Dr. Albert Tin Hong Chan, M.D., 63, of Atlanta, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. He was born to Yuen Man Au and Chit Fu Chan, of blessed memory, in Macau, China. Albert graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He pursued his medical studies and graduated from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, followed by an internal medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He practiced medicine as a gastroenterologist at the Watson Clinic in Lakeland, Florida for 20 years before moving his practice to Atlanta with the intention of serving the Chinese community. He was an active member of Atlanta Chinese Christian Church. He practiced medicine with DeKalb Gastroenterology Associates for seven years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Jenny; his daughter, Jamie; his sons, Christopher and Andrew; his sisters Amy Fu and Amelia Lee; and his brother Antony Chan. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a benevolent fund to support a family in need. Donations may be made care of Atlanta Chinese Christian Church, located at 4434 Britt Road, Tucker, GA 30084. Memorial service will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Atlanta Chinese Christian Church with Pastor J.O. Purcell officiating.
