Bahram Mokri, M.D.

A true gentleman and a scholar, Dr. Bahram Mokri was a respected Neurologist at Mayo Clinic and wonderful human being.

In his more than 40 years at Mayo, Dr. Mokri pioneered research on cerebral spinal fluid leaks, mentored aspiring neurologists, and helped thousands of patients.

Dr. Mokri’s devotion to his work was only surpassed by his dedication to studying cooking techniques and vintage automobiles. Born in Tehran, he loved his adopted country of America, and he became an expert on all American political figures from 1960 onward.

He instilled in his children a love of learning, beginning with reading nightly bedtime stories from The Big Book of Tell Me Why. Always a teacher, he could explain complex scientific phenomena using a napkin and a pen. He often enjoyed a scenic drive soundtracked by David Bowie.

On May 31, 2017, Dr. Bahram Mokri, age 77, decided not to finish the book he was writing and finally take the break he always said he would.

His style, grace and generosity will be missed most by his wife of 47 years, Dr. Mehrsheed Sinaki, and two daughters, Mariam and Melorine.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. A time of gathering will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Dr. Mokri asked that donations be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com.
