Donald Feeney, M.D. (U ’63)

August 30, 1930 – September 9, 2023

Donald P. Feeney M.D., 93, of Rockford, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023.  Born August 30, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of A. Edward and Madeline (Cusack) Feeney. Veteran of the United States Air Force from 1958-1960 serving as base physician in Japan. Donald married Frances Clegg on April 26, 1958 on Long Island, NY.

Donald graduated in 1956 from Cornell University Medical School, New York, NY. He completed residencies at Yale Medical School, New Haven, CT and the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Donald was a Urologist at the Rockford Clinic for many years, retiring in 1998. He was then employed by Wellpoint Health as Assistant Medical Director from 1998-2008. He was a Quality Assurance Volunteer for several years at Crusader Clinic in Rockford. Donald was a member of The Winnebago County Medical Society, The Illinois Medical Society, The American Urological Association, and The University Club.

Donald is survived by his wife, Frances; sons, Dr. Douglas (Ginny) Feeney and Gregory Feeney; daughters, Carol Feeney and Laura (Brian) Cleveland; and five grandchildren, Morgan, Michelle, and Chelsea Feeney, Emily and James Cleveland. He was predeceased by his daughter, Donna Lynn Feeney; his parents; and sister, Jane Hale.
