Harold J. Berman, 87, a dermatologist who had a private practice in Alexandria, Va., for 55 years before retiring in 2014, died June 28 at a hospital in Bethesda, Md. The cause was respiratory complications, said his wife, Barbara Alk Berman.
Dr. Berman, a native Washingtonian, was in the Air Force Medical Corps before opening his practice in 1959. He was past vice president of the former Alexandria Medical Society and a past president of the Washington D.C. Dermatological Society. He was an associate professor of dermatology at Georgetown University’s medical school for more than 25 years and volunteered at the Alexandria Health Department for more than 20 years.
