Brownfield, James Allen “Jim” MD Age 79, of Deephaven, passed away February 8th, 2018 surrounded by family. Preceded in death by parents, Ruth and Hugh. Survived by wife of 47 years, Tess; sister, Ann Brownfield Crane (Russ); children, John (Sheila), Tom (Brooke), and Annie (Josh) Zimmers; grandchildren, Ian, Jack, Grace, Ben, Ethan, Daniel, Eleanor, William, and George. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas and was a graduate of University of Kansas and University of Kansas Medical School. Following his military service (Navy), he completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He worked for 45 years as an Opthamologist for Park Nicollet Medical Center. He loved his job, his patients, and his co- workers. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He took great pleasure in both coaching and attending all his children’s sporting events. At the University of Kansas he played varsity tennis and then continued a lifelong passion for Jayhawk sports (Rock Chalk Jayhawk). Moving to Minnesota, he quickly became a Gopher football and basketball fan. He has been a season ticket holder since 1977. He loved being a member at Minnetonka Country Club until it’s close and then Minneapolis Golf Club golfing with some good friends. Later in life he became an avid birder, always searching for that elusive bird he had yet to see. Celebration of life service Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11 AM at the MN Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska, MN 55318 (952-443-1400). Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. Private family interment. Reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the MN Landscape Arboretum.
