James Henry, M.D. (U ’66)

North Palm Beach – James Dennis Henry died on January 9, 2021 at Trustbridge Hospice in Jupiter, Florida after a long illness. He was born on October 2, 1935 in Ashley, Pennsylvania, the son of Harold and Josephine Henry. Jim attended King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and New York Medical College in New York City. After completing his residency in Urologic Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where he started his medical practice in 1968. He served as Chief of Urological Surgery at both Good Samaritan and St. Mary’s hospitals, President of Medical Staff at Good Samaritan Hospital, a Palm Beach County Medical Society Board Member, and was one of the founders of Jupiter Medical Center. Former associates in his urology practice, Urologic Physicians and Surgeons were Drs. Neill Borland, Ben Moore, Murray Goldberg, Ruskin Brown, and Edwin Brown. Jim served as a Urologic Surgeon in the US Army in Vietnam for two years.
Jim is survived by his wife Rebecca of 54 years and his two sons Timothy Henry, Christopher Henry and his companion Laine Mayronne, two grandsons Booker and Hollis, his brother Jack, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his two sisters Eileen Schmidt and Mary Jo Gallagher.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Jupiter Medical Center and Trustbridge Hospice who served him so professionally, as well as all the friends who have called, written, prayed and waited during Jim’s long illness and final days. Our special love goes to our longtime friend, Martha Heimbach who has been by our side every step of the way. Jim loved her like a sister.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, January 13th from 11am-1pm, Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral and Event Center, 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408.
