1932 - 2015

John D. Camp, Jr., M.D. (R-D 1962)

John Dexter Camp, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2015 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on February 16, 1932 to his parents, Blanche Eiffe and Dr. John Camp, Sr., in Rochester, MN.

John followed in his father’s footsteps of Radiology. He completed his Radiology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, emerging as a board-certified Radiologist in 1963. He devoted the following thirty years to medicine in the San Gabriel Valley, east of Los Angeles.

He loved the field of medicine immensely, and was honored with the distinction of becoming a Fellow of the American College of Radiology in 1988.

Upon retiring in 1993, John and his wife, Lonna Camp, moved to Lake Havasu City. In his retirement years he filled his time with several volunteer positions, including several years at Inter-Agency. He was a generous person who loved helping others.

From early childhood, John was fascinated by aviation, particularly with model aircrafts. In Lake Havasu he became very active in the Desert Hawks Model Aircraft Club. He also had a love for sports cars and was active in the Porsche Club of America. These hobbies kept him busy and happy.

John is survived by his wife, Lonna Camp of Lake Havasu City; daughters, Suzanne Bentley and Samantha Burpee; adopted son, James Camp; and four grandchildren. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.

No services are planned at this time. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Havasu for the wonderful care they gave to John.
