John G. Robinson, M.D. (I ’56)

Peacefully at home in Burlington, in his 88th year, Dr. John (Jack) Robinson, beloved husband, father and grandfather. Mourned by his wife, Dr. Lyn Robinson, their daughter Dr. Liz Touzel, her husband Dr. Tom Touzel and their daughters Molly and Lindey; son Michael Robinson; son Dr. Matthew Robinson, his wife Anitha and their children Daniel and Alyssa; and his sisters Joan Grierson and Meredith Saunderson and their families.

Predeceased by their infant son James Ashworth Robinson in 1975. Son of George and Josepha Robinson, Jack was born and raised in Toronto, attended Forest Hill Village School, graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1949, pursued graduate studies at the Mayo Clinic and opened his internal medicine/cardiology practice in Hamilton in1957. He pioneered the use of cardiac catheterization and later echocardiology in that city, joining McMaster University Medical Faculty after it opened in 1966.

Other than his medical practice, Jack’s interests included keeping turtles in their own indoor-outdoor pool at home, raising chickens for delicious eggs, building and repairing docks, and enjoying voyages in both sail and motor boats. He will be missed. A private family service will be held shortly.
