Jorge Torriglia, M.D. (U ’79)

Dr. Jorge Rene Torriglia, M.D. died August 18, 2019. He was 72 years old. Dr. Torriglia was born December 22, 1946 in Morrison, Argentina to Maria Adela and Rene Torriglia.

A man of great faith, character, and integrity, Dr. Torriglia put God first, family second, and work third. Family was everything to him and he loved coaching soccer for kids. He was a member of Plum Hollow Country Club for 20+ years and enjoyed tennis and golf. Dr. Torriglia was a “Master of the Grill” and delighted… in backyard BBQs. Sanibel Island was one of his favorite places that he enjoyed visiting for 34 years. He also enjoyed spending summers on Glen Lake.

The family would like to thank Karmanos Cancer Clinic and Hospital, especially Dr. J. Zonder, Dr. J. Uberti, Dr. J. Maier, and Dr. Newman, as well as nurses, Georgia, Christine, Gail, Daykee, Monica, Joyce, and Susan.

Dr. Torriglia is survived by his beloved wife Mary Lynn Torriglia (nee Ryan) and sons Michael (fiancée Ally Barber) Torriglia and Danny (Allie) Torriglia. He is also survived by his sister, Silvia (the late Carlos) Cance’. Dr. Torriglia is preceded in death by his son Jorge Peter Torriglia.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday, August 23rd, 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Saturday, August 24th, 11am Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am.

Following Mass, committal services will take place privately in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
