Marjorie Heffelfinger-Juttner, M.D. (PATH ’72)

Dr. Marjorie Joan Heffelfinger-Juttner, 81, of Wisconsin, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Her cremains will be buried in the family plot in Colfax on her birthday, June 20, 2017. An additional service will be held in September at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., where she and her husband were members.

Dr. Heffelfinger-Juttner was born June 20, 1935, in Newton, the daughter of John and Marjorie (Avery) Heffelfinger. She married Dr. Hans Udo Juttner in 1974.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1953, and then proceeded to obtain her R.N. at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. She was a Navy lieutenant, received her B.A. with honors from the University of Oregon at Eugene, and taught nursing at Broadlawns in Des Moines. She went on to attend the University of Iowa Medical School, graduating at the top of her class in 1967. She went on to intern in Columbus, Ohio, then went to the Mayo Clinic to fulfill her residency in pathology.

Surviving are her husband; one sister, June Garrett; several nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; three brothers-in-law; and cousins, friends, and colleagues.

She was preceded in death by one sister-in-law.
