Raelinn M. Spiekhout, M.D.

Raelinn M. Spiekhout, M.D., 45, of Bourbonnais, IL, passed away at home on August 12, 2017, as a result of a prolonged illness, injuries, and complications. Education and reading were her passions along with sports, until such time as she was unable to participate. She attended Iliana Christian High School and graduated from Chicago Lab School. Her further education incudes Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in Chemical Engineering Degree. Her medical degree was from the Chicago Medical School. Her residency in Internal Medicine was at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Dr. Spiekhout practiced medicine in Carmel, IN. For many years Dr. Spiekhout and her late husband Fred Simmons resided in Zionsville, IN. Additionally, she worked in various community oriented practices.

She was preceded in death last year by her brother, Sgt. John A. Spiekhout. Dr. Spiekhout’s father, James DeSalvo, grandparents, Pearl and Raymond Falkenthal, and Uncle Gary Falkenthal. She is survived by her mother, Raelynn Roman, Sister – Gina Minga (Phil), Katie Tierney, fiancée of the late John Spiekhout, her Godson and nephew, Joseph Minga. Additional nephews are Sammy Spiekhout, Michael Minga; nieces: Lauren Minga, Megan, Amy, Katie Falkenthal and uncle Thomas (Laurel) Falkenthal. Her other siblings include Teri Lynn Shaperio, Stephen (Patty) Spiekhout, Wayne Spiekhout, Jr. (Darcy) Special Cousins Shawn Terrance, and Judy Green, as well as a very large family of cousins. Additionally, her life-long friend, Brad Eenigenburg and family will celebrate her life.

Cremation rites were accorded and a private interment will be held. No public visitation or services will be held. Please send cards of condolences to her mother in lieu of flowers or donations of any kind.
