Richard Craig, M.D. (R-D ‘56)

Dr. Richard Craig (Dick) passed away peacefully at his home on July 18th. He is survived by his wife of fifty years Judith Craig and one daughter, Cheryl Kennerk, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, one grandson, and his first wife Jean Woebbking.

Dick was a graduate of Indiana University and Indiana University Medical School. He was a member of SAE Fraternity. He received further medical training at The Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota and practiced in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he was the Chief Radiologist at Lutheran Hospital from 1957 through 1985.

He was awarded the prestigious “Sagamore of the Wabash” by the Governor of Indiana for serving on the State Board of Health, was a member of the Mayo Alumni Association, The Doctor’s Mayo Society, and the Indiana “I Mens Club.”

Following his retirement, he and Judith moved to Savannah where they have been active members of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension and The German Friendly Society.

He was an avid ballroom dancer and along with Judith enjoyed that activity for many years.

Funeral Services will be held at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Saturday, July 28th at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be in the Columbarium in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
