Robert Johnson, M.D. (NS ’70)

Robert M. Johnson, M.D. passed away on March 15, 2021 in Mesquite, NV, formerly of Fargo, ND. He was born May 27, 1937 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Byron and Eleanor Johnson.

Robert graduated from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba with the honor of being the top pharmacy student in the school’s history, beating out his father.

He then did Internship at Winnipeg General Hospital followed by a General Surgery Residency at Deerlodge Veteran’s Hospital in Winnipeg. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in October, 1970. He joined the Neuropsychiatric Institute Neurosurgery Departement in 1970 and the Fargo Clinic/Meritcare/Sanford until his retirement in 2007.

He is survived by his wife; Sandy (Mattson), daughters; Pamela Johnson, Laura Bartel (Hamlin) and Angela Yunker, grandson; Nickolas Cayer (Brittany); great grandson; Nathan and sister; Carolyn Charron (Lionel).
