Alum interviews alum about physician support groups

Mayo Clinic’s Stephen Swensen, M.D. (R-D ’86), interviewed fellow Mayo physician Colin West, M.D., Ph.D. (I ’03, CMR ’04), to discuss COMPASS — Colleagues Meeting to Promote and Sustain Satisfaction, physician support groups at Mayo Clinic, to talk about issues central to the physician experience.

The NEJM Catalyst article, “Getting Back to Medicine as a Community,” covers Mayo physicians’ reactions to COMPASS groups and how they might work for other health care organizations.

Dr. Swensen is an advisor on leadership for the NEJM Catalyst, which uses various formats to bring together those involved in health care to share ideas and applications for enhancing the value of health care delivery.
