About Us
The Mayo Clinic Surgical Society in Honor of James T. Priestley is a Mayo Alumni Association society for surgeons at all three sites who trained at Mayo or who are current or former members of the Mayo Department of Surgery staff.
Residents and fellows who worked with Dr. James T. Priestley founded the Mayo Clinic Surgical Society in Honor of James T. Priestley in April 1965. Doctor Priestley was a prominent Mayo Clinic surgeon with a national and international reputation. He had a great deal of enthusiasm for teaching young residents the care of patients and the craft of surgery.
The Mayo Clinic Surgical Society in Honor of James T. Priestley currently consists of more than 600 members, made up primarily of Mayo surgical alumni from throughout the world, who meet once a year for scientific exchange, as well as renewal of friendships at various social events.
