Welcome Surgery Alumni!

Welcome to the Mayo Clinic Surgical Society in honor of James T. Priestley – where our shared roots, our training, and our unwavering commitment to surgical excellence continue to connect everyone who is or was a part of the Mayo Clinic’s Department of Surgery.  Originally founded in 1965, the Society is more than an organization; it is a homecoming. It is a place where we honor the traditions that shaped us, celebrate the lifelong friendships forged in the operating room and on call, and reaffirm the values that continue to guide our work across the world. Every one of us carries a piece of Mayo with us, and here, those pieces come back together.

As the secretary/treasurer, it is both a privilege and a passion to help preserve this community. The Society plays a vital role in keeping us engaged with each other, supporting our trainees, and ensuring that the spirit of mentorship, curiosity, and innovation that defined our training and work remains alive and thriving. Whether you graduated last year or decades ago, are new to the consulting staff or have spent your entire career at Mayo, this is your network – and our legacy.

Thank you for being part of this remarkable family!  We gather annually for reunion, scientific exchange and to honor our past with our Legacy Professor, the present with our President and the future through the ReMine lecture.  May this Society continue to be a source of inspiration, pride, and lifelong camaraderie for all who have called Mayo home!
